Arthur Wear was born in 1884 and attended Guisborough Grammar School from May 1897 until April 1899.
During World War I, Arthur served as a Captain in the York and Lancaster Regiment.
He died on 4 December 1917, aged 33, and is buried in the cemetery at Ribecourt, a village about 10 kilometres southwest of Cambrai. His name is recorded on the Grammar School’s War Honours Board — alongside the names of all of the Grammar School’s alumni to die in the First and Second World Wars.
