Douglas Lister

Douglas Lister was born on 10 May 1917 and attended the School between May 1930 and June 1933.

During World War II, Douglas served as a Private in the Royal Army Service Corps.

He died on 25 April 1941, aged 23, and is listed on the Athens Memorial which commemorates nearly 3,000 members of the land forces of the Commonwealth who lost their lives during the campaigns in Greece and Crete in 1941 and who have no known grave.

His name is also recorded on the Grammar School’s War Honours Board — alongside the names of all of the Grammar School’s alumni to die in the First and Second World Wars.
