Eric Alderson

Eric Alderson was born on 2 July 1920 and attended the School between September 1931 and 1938.

During the Second World War, Eric served as a Signalman in the Royal Corps of Signals.

He was killed in North Africa on 7 November 1942, aged 22, and is commemorated on the Alamein Memorial which bears the names of more than 8,500 soldiers of the Commonwealth who died in the campaigns in Egypt and Libya and who have no known grave.

His name is also recorded on the Grammar School’s War Honours Board — alongside the names of all of the Grammar School’s alumni to die in the First and Second World Wars.
