Eustace Harland was born on 9 October 1899 and enrolled at the School on 21 September 1909. He left the school in December 1911 to go to St Peter’s School in York.
Eustace later joined the Royal Navy Air Service and we are grateful to St Peter's School for the photograph below of Eustace in uniform.
Eustace was killed on 18 March 1918 on his first solo flight and is buried at Lythe churchyard. His name is recorded on the Grammar School’s War Honours Board —alongside the names of all of the Grammar School’s alumni to die in the First and Second World Wars.
