Leonard Robinson was born on 13 June 1899 and enrolled at the School on 19 September 1911. He played in the Football XI and was described as “a very useful all round player”. Leonard also played in the Cricket XI where he was said to be “always reliable and careful and one of the regular and most successful bowlers”.
Leonard left School on 5 April 1917 and joined the 52nd Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment, later transferring to the Durham Light Infantry.
He died on 29 May 1918 and is listed on the Soissons Memorial which commemorates almost 4,000 officers and men who died in the Battles of Aisnes and Marne and who have no known grave.
Leonard's name is also recorded on the Grammar School’s War Honours Board — alongside the names of all of the Grammar School’s alumni to die in the First and Second World Wars.
