Michael Forster was born on 7 March 1918 and attended the School between September 1926 and December 1931.
At the outbreak of the Second World War, Michael Forster was serving in the 6th Battalion Green Howards (Territorial Army) as a 2nd Lieutenant and on 2nd November 1940 was granted a temporary commission as Pilot Officer with the Royal Air Force.
He was killed on 28 July 1941, aged 22, on active service whilst serving with 21 Squadron.
Michael is buried in a Commonwealth War Grave in Ormesby Churchyard and his name is also recorded on the Grammar School’s War Honours Board — alongside the names of all of the Grammar School’s alumni to die in the First and Second World Wars.
