Wilfred Forster was born on 17 May 1891 in Skelton and enrolled at the School on 15 September 1905. He won School Prizes for both Science and Maths and also played football for the School.
He left school in April 1907 to work in the Railway Office and subsequently enlisted in the Durham Light Infantry and served in the 14th Battalion.
Lance Corporal Forster died on 23 November 1915, aged 23 and is buried at Boulogne, France and his name is recorded on the Grammar School’s War Honours Board — alongside the names of all of the Grammar School’s alumni to die in the First and Second World Wars.
