George Tate

George Tate was born on 6 April 1921 and enrolled at the School on 20 September 1932.

During the Second World War, George served as a Warrant Officer (Pilot) with 610 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.

He died on 23 January 1945, aged 23, and is buried Leopoldsburg War Cemetery in Belgium.

His name is also recorded on the Grammar School’s War Honours Board — alongside the names of all of the Grammar School’s alumni to die in the First and Second World Wars.
